Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Utilising Artificial Intelligence

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools have the potential to reduce leader, teacher and support staff workload.

Tame River Educational Trust has created resources to help the our workforce to begin to utilise Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to reduce workload.

OuArtificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy underpin our resources. Users must be familiar with these before using AI. Equally, it would be wrong not to consider the environmental impact of using Artificial Intelligence. Users are encouraged to be aware of the reported impact, including as set out here by the United Nations Environmental Program.

Colleagues are encouraged to utilise the free DfE training resources (presentation and videos, including resources specific to leadership) and Chartered College of Teaching free certificated assessment (multiple choice, 15 questions). In total, this takes about two hours. In addition, LGfL provides a wealth of resources and training free of charge.

Personal or identifying information must never be entered into any AI system without prior approval from the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and completion of a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA). The DPIA ensures robust data and cyber security and involves checks on providers, sign-in processes, infrastructure, and trial arrangements. Following a DPIA, Microsoft 365 Copilot are the only approved general use Large Language Model (LLM) for Tame River Educational Trust staff to use for work-related purposes. Microsoft 365 Copilot must be linked exclusively to school/trust-issued Microsoft 365 account as this provides enterprise grade data protection. Other Large Language Models must not be used unless there are exceptional circumstances approved in writing by the Trust DPO following a DPIA. There are other AI services with integrated LLM type features – such as Canva – that may also be authorised for staff use, but personal or sensitive data must never be used with these services. The Trust will maintain a list of Approved AI Services; this is available upon request. Misuse will be addressed under Data Protection and HR policies, including disciplinary procedures.

Our resources come in three progressive sections:

You can access these in order or jump in at a higher level depending on your readiness to engage with AI.

We want these resources to inspire your use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to reduce your workload pressure points whilst not compromising the quality of your work. But, they have to be used with caution, as explained in our AI Policy and Guidance.

Please remember not to share any personal data (including your own, colleagues, and that of students) in any format with generative AI tools that do not include Commercial Data Protection. You are bound by our school/trust Data Protection and Internet Security and related policies. Please consult with your Headteacher, DPO or responsible body. Quality assure the output before you use it.
